Are there any differences between FI and FDTD method? (Faq #7)

You will find an introduction into the applied theory in the "Advanced Topics" manual.

The main differences of FIT compared to FDTD:

FIT general method, FDTD only time-domain
FIT is a very general approach for all frequency domains, you can solve static, low-frequency and high-frequency problems. The Time-Domain solver is only one possible method to solve the problem, FIT also offers Eigenmode-solver, Static solvers and Frequency Domain solvers.
In Time Domain we have a similar explicit scheme like FDTD, but our stability criterion is not the standard Courant condition, because we have PBA.
To ensure stability with PBA (thats the main point), you need the global systems behaviour. Our matrices S and C ensure the global stability and make PBA possible.
FIT has MATRIX-description of the whole calculation volume
(FDTD describes only local dependency of electric with magnetic fields)
Unique in FIT are the curl- and source- matrices S and C and all its nice properties SC=0 ..., which other methods like FDTD do not have.
FIT yields to general Maxwell-Grid-Equations, valid for arbitrary time-dependency and maintaining analytic properties.
Integral values
Mainly due to the integral approach of FIT = Integral Maxwell equation rather than differential approach, the PBA was possible, by maintaining the properties of S and C. (we calculate integral values as voltages and fluxes rather than electric field values and flux densities).
FIT can also be applied to unstructured meshes, such as tetrahedral meshes.

How can I report a problem to the customer support? (Faq #8)

Whenever questions or problems concerning a particular application or model occur, the easiest and fastest way to contact the local customer support is by email. The email should typically contain the following items:

Zip file of the model, which enables us to reproduce the problem.The macro "File / Make Archive" automatically zips all the files we need to rebuild your model (included parameter information, user defined function and imported CAD files).
Short description of the problems and questions.
We strongly recommend that you use the macro "File / Make Archive" as described above to create the zip file, as we often receive incomplete models due to missing files or text files, which have not been attached, but copied as ASCII into the email.
