Abstract: FSS consisting of densely packed linear dipoles have reflection bandwidths exceeding an [|e7oNT(Q  
octave. A transmission line equivalent circuit for tliese arrays is described. It can be used for design (`xhh  
work or in initial trials without the need to write complex modal analysis softwarc. It predicts thc F+|zCEc  
various band-edge frequencies and closely models the transmission curves across a wide range of 10{ZW@!7  
angles of incidence and frequency, covering the low transmission hand, the roll-off region, and GYZzWN}U  
much of the wide reflection region that these FSS offer. The model includes the relative permittivity nxCwg>
