Recently, feed structures using electromagnetic coupling for microstrip antennas *>p#/'_E  
have been proposed and investigated because of their ease in fabrication and integration  (.B+U'6  
with active devices. Aperture-coupled, slot-fed, coplanar waveguide-fed and slot line-fed Qz/1^xy  
microstrip antennas are categorized as electromagnetically excited microstrip antennas. n:[GK_  
Since the slot is common for these electromagnetically excited microsmp antennas, its mmrz:_  
applications to circular polarization (CP) operation are studied in this paper. Although W02swhS  
simple design formulas for probe-fed CP microsmp antennas have been obtained using the Kzgnhgc  
cavity model theory [I], [2], similar design formulas for a slot-fed CP case have been ZtqN8$[6n  
developed only recently [3]. Using these formulas for an arbitrarily oriented slot-fed uPtS.j=  
microsmp antenna, the CP performances for the fxst three types .. Lj03Mx.2S
