Abstract—We introduce a general class of higher order parameter- za7h.yK}  
dependent Whitney elements, unlike previous approaches that hd1H  
resulted in specific element definitions. All elements of this kind JsOPI]  
provide the same solution, but their convergence properties may be mg)lr&-b  
significantly different. The most essential fact, though, is the introduction 6~\z]LZ  
of an optimization procedure, which reveals the existence yEt:g0Z\  
of an optimal, with respect to convergence, element. The produced Sv.z9@S  
second order elements are tested in both two-dimensional (2-D)and 2A@9jl s
