We describe an academic research program designed to =a@j=  
investigate fundamental issues that will impact future I%sFqh>  
pulsed power technology. The project is intended to &#!4XOyB  
enhance the scientific footing for pulsed power, and to +l9!Fl{MK\  
address issues in the development of compact, repetitive pe]A5\4c  
pulsed power. These include physics issues implicit in eU".3`CtY  
switch development, including both solid state and gasphase, :,'wVS8"]  
pulse generation at various levels from extremely E4|jOz^j4\  
small for fast high field generation to >100kV, and SYCEQ5 -  
applications including ignition of jet fuels and biological 95A1:A^t
