Abstract—A new method of increasing the bandwidth of P"iqP|  
normal-mode helical antennas (NMHAs) is proposed. The antenna NqF-[G<  
has length of around 0.1 of the target wavelength, and ,Y!T!o}1  
consists of a helix constructed with two flat wire strips. The F=P|vYL&&  
method exploits the two current modes of the two-wire design to #Wc)wL-Tg  
obtain wideband response. Based on an analysis of the equivalent b<5:7C9z  
circuits of the two modes and subsequent optimization of design )Fm  
parameters, a final two-strip NMHA design is proposed that is '!f5|l9SC  
demonstrated to have a bandwidth of 12% in the 760-MHz band ;H\,w/E9
