Abstract|Surface acoustic wave (SAW) radio transponders w$9LcN  
make it possible to read identication codes or measurement "|1iz2L  
values from a remote location. The decisive advantage Q0K$ZWM`7  
of these SAW transponders lies in their passive ej}S{/<*n  
operation (i.e., no power-supply), and in the possibility of ^Z;zA@[wt  
wireless installation at particularly inaccessible locations. 0mUVa=)D  
The passive SAW transponders are maintenance free. 7mdd}L^h Z  
Identication marks respond to an interrogation signal YK6'/2!  
with their nonchanging identication pattern. In wireless >L!c} Ku  
SAW sensors the physical or chemical properties to be detected 'n-y*f  
change the propagation characteristics of the SAW. eZU9L/w:  
SAWradio transponders are advantageously placed on moving 7_ayn#;y  
or rotating parts and in hazardous environments such *n EkbI/
