EM simulations can be classified as high performance computing tasks. Therefore, the CPU, RAM, and graphic performance of workstations used for CST applications should meet high requirements. Likewise, a sufficient power supply and heat flow have to be ensured for the workstation. Thus, we strongly recommend to buy a complete package from a brandname manufacturer, e.g. DELL, HP, or IBM. 1j0OV9-|  
We strongly recommend that the chosen hardware meets the following requirements. For a workstation/server without special acceleration features (i.e., GPU Computing or MPI Computing) we recommend: S-}MS"  
■The latest Intel Xeon processors (currently the Intel Xeon processors of the E5 series, “Sandy Bridge EP”) Z"#eN(v.N  
■The fastest RAM memory modules (DDR3, RDIMM). The memory modules need to be arranged in multiples of four (4 modules, 8 modules, etc.) per processor socket for the Xeon E5 platform. Please note that the maximum memory bandwidth depends on the number of RAM modules as well as the type of the modules. The maximum memory bandwidth is currently 1600 MHz. A high memory bandwidth is essential to obtain the best possible performance for many of the CST solvers. Please ask your hardware vendor to provide you with a configuration which achieves this memory bandwidth.   g}"`@H(9r3

If the usage of special acceleration features (GPU Computing/MPI Computing) offered by CST STUDIO SUITE is intended there are additional requirements the hardware should meet. Please refer to the GPU Computing Guide (http://updates.cst.com/downloads/GPU_Computing_Guide_2012.pdf) and the information found in the chapter "Simulation Acceleration" of the CST STUDIO SUITE help documents to learn more about those special requirements.
