The circular disc monopole (CDM) antenna has been reported 1gC=xMAT  
to yield wide-impedance bandwidth. Experiments have been carried V;!D:N8<  
out on a CDM that has twice the diameter of the reported disc 2+enRR~  
with similar results. New configurations are proposed such as elliptical 4{Iz\:G:{/  
(with different ellipticity ratios), square, rectangular, and hexagonal disc !q X7   
monopole antennas. A simple formula is proposed to predict the frequency ]O[f#lG  
corresponding to the lower edge of the bandwidth for each of these ,oCr6 ]  
configurations. The elliptical disc monopole (EDM) with ellipticity ratio 7;XdTx  
of 1.1 yields the maximum bandwidth from 1.21 GHz to more than 13 8P .! q  
GHz for voltage standing wa .. &zZSWNW
