  Abstract- An equivalent circuit model of a synchronous
generator with simultaneous AC and rectiFed DC load is
presented in this paper. Br use of the principle of harmonic
balance, which makes it possible to construct, a state-space
mathematical  model  of  this  system,  the  criterion  of
operation stabili勺is derived for the system under small
disturbance. It is shown that the AC load is favorable for
improving  the  system  stability  and  the  generator
parameters have considerable effects on the system stability.
