[仿真]Special Sensor Microwave Imager Sounder (SSMIS) Radiometric Calibration Anomalies

Abstract—Two calibration anomalies of the Defense Meteorological NzB"u+jB  
Satellite Program’s (DMSP) Special Sensor Microwave Imager feg  
Sounder (SSMIS) radiometer are examined by using several )/VhkSXbG!  
sources of data. Early orbit mode data from the SSMIS are used fLM5L_S}Y  
to create radiometric images of the warm calibration load that )EQWc0iKG  
evolve over an entire orbit to elucidate the effects of direct and reflected 7,0^|P  
solar illumination of the warm-load (WL) emissive surface. Ni]V)wGE;  
Analysis of the radiometric gain and apparent WL radiometric ;tK%Q~To  
brightness temperature observed during the solar intrusion events Y*0AS|r!  
show the impact of these events on the SSMIS calibration. A yH}(0  
graphical simulation of the SSMIS and DMSP spacecraft is used to wyF'B  
define the regions where solar intrusion occurs and to characterize B->3/dp2c'  
the WL anomalous regions for the specific DMSP F-16 orbit. $80TRB#  
The graphical simulation is also used to determine the cause of m$b5Vqq  
additional calibration errors that were identified by using comparisons ' lt5|  
to numerical weather prediction (NWP) models, as emission /[ _aw&W}Z  
from the SSMIS reflector antenna. Mitigation of these calibration 9K~0:c  
anomalies is critical if the operational SSMIS radiometers achieve :&*Y Io  
their full utility in NWP, climate monitoring, forecasting, and >2Z0XEe
