Abstract—Wideband and ultrawideband (UWB) technologies GE!fh1[[u  
have achieved notable progress in recent years, aided immeasurably N]|P||fC  
by improvements in solid-state manufacturing, computers, 7i##g,  
and digitizers. As a result, wideband systems that were difficult j&|>Aa${  
or impossible to implement ten years ago are now being built v*lj>)L  
for an increasingly wide variety of applications including transient )OE!vA  
radar, concealed object detection, mine clearing, pipeline RQ*oTsq  
inspections, archeology, geology, electronic effects testing, and c?t,,\o(}  
communications. In this paper, we discuss current wideband ^fqco9^;  
source technology around the world as well as laboratory and JU`5K}H<  
test facilities. We also will briefly touch on frequency limitations Z[GeU>?P  
of anechoic chambers, design of transmission line simulators, !?aL_{7J  
frequency regulation requirements for outdoor ranges, and p .. L3J .Oh
