[EMC]Fast and Rigorous Analysis of EMC/EMI Phenomena  

Abstract—A fast and comprehensive time-domain method for |=6_ xRyr  
analyzing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and electromagnetic lp
gd#vr  
interference (EMI) phenomena on complex structures that %}3qR~;  
involve electrically large platforms (e.g., vehicle shells) along with |3shc,7  
cable-interconnected antennas, shielding enclosures, and printed hmC*^"C>U=  
circuit boards is proposed. To efficiently simulate field interactions PFrfd_s{>\  
with such structures, three different solvers are hybridized: TL0[@rr4  
1) a time-domain integral-equation (TDIE)-based field solver that m$wlflt  
computes fields on the exterior structure comprising platforms, antennas, 0;<)\Wt=i9  
enclosures, boards, and cable shields (external fields); 2) a 3qaMO#{
M  
modified nodal-analysis (MNA)-based circuit solver that computes jlqv2V7=/  
currents and voltages on lumped circuits approximating cable connectors/ mchJmZ{A  
loads; and 3) a TDIE-based transmission line solver that g/~XCC^F?  
computes transmission line voltages and currents at cable terminations %m&@o~
+  
(guided fields). These three solvers are rigorously interfaced sOBu7!G%  
at the cable connectors/loads and along the cable shields; AjkW0FB:1  
the resulting coupled system of equations is solved simultaneously CMW,slC_3  
at each time step. Computation of the external and guided fields, ;65D  
which constitutes the computational bottleneck of this approach, Lrd[Ov  
is accelerated using fast Fourier transform-based algorithms. Further hyg8wI  
acceleration is achieved by parallelizing the computation of i47j lyH  
external fields. The resulting hybrid solver permits the analysis =0qpVFvU  
of electrically large and geometrically intricate structures loaded S`!-Cal`n  
with coaxial cables. The accuracy, efficiency, and versatility of the z6*<V5<7  
proposed solver are demonstrated by analyzing several EMC/EMI %lw! e  
problems including interference between a log-periodic monopole 2`?!+")  
array trailing an aircraft’s wing and a monopole antenna mounted ["3\eFg  
on .. V}WB*bE
