Abstract - The Global SAW Tag uses a recentlyinvented #knpZ'  
digital modulation based on simultaneous ?7(`2=J  
time position and phase shifting. A unique feature of Dy5'm?  
this tag is that it satisfies global RFID requirements _g 3hXsA  
using the international 2.44 GHz ISM band. iN=-N=  
Precision amplitude and phase weighting of reflectors ,7

and accurate control of parasitic effects is critical to X 5pp8~  
implementing this device. This tag has significantly Q]66v$  
more data bits, lower insertion loss, and smaller die qm8[ ^jO&  
area (i.e. lower cost) than previous SAW tags. These c:4i&|n  
improvements eliminate the shortcomings that have IhY[c/|i  
previously limited the market for SAW RFID (radio ^ WidA-
